It's Summer! It's hot! And we need a refreshing drink in hand that offers all the Summer-time vibes STAT! Delicious and vibrant, the summer strawberry frozen daiquiris it is. This easy daiquiri recipe can be whipped up within minutes. Grab your favorite Summer read, lotion up, and get ready to head to the pool. Because this pool-side companion is about to make your day!

What is a daiquiri?

A daiquiri is a cocktail made up of main ingredients including rum, citrus juice and a sweetener. Though commonly served up frozen, the original daiquiri concoction is served up shaken, straight up without ice. Daiquiri is the name of a beach near Santiago de Cuba where the drink originated. After becoming popularized in the 1940s, The daiquiri has evolved into a wide range of variations offering something for everyone. A few other popular daiquiri choices include:

  • Hemingway Daiquiri
  • Frozen Banana Daiquiri
  • Frozen Pineapple Daiquiri
  • Frozen Mango Daiquiri

How to make strawberry daiquiris from scratch?

Do yourself a favor and pass on all the premix daiquiris. Daiquiris are made to be reFRESHing. And plus, half of the fun is in making the dang thing.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup white rum: It's best to use a white rum for this recipe over the darker, aged rums that may over power the drink. White rum carries a lighter flavor that pairs well with the strawberries.
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries: Frozen strawberries help thicken the drink to offer a bit of a puréed texture. However, many frozen strawberry daiquiri recipes call for fresh strawberries to create more of a slushies texture. If you are using fresh strawberries, just add ice until you achieve your desired texture.
  • ⅛ cup simple syrup: Simple syrup is very easy to make. All you need to do is bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small sauce pan. Then add 1 cup of granulated sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved. The simple syrup can be kept in an olive oil and vinegar glass dispenser such as this one.
  • ¼ cup lime juice: Of course, the best tasting lime juice will always be freshly squeezed. But if you are someone like myself who keeps lime juice on hand, such as Nellie & Joe's Famous Key West Lime Juice, feel free to use that as well.
